confederado, thank you so much for sending me that link. It did mean a tremendous lot to me, and I've passed it on to my brother as well. found another site for John W. Birch, that said he was wounded at Gaines Mill, and later died, but was not specific about where and when, would think it should've been at one of the three hospitals in operation then, no pun intended. if I send for his civil war service record, do you know how much detail is usually in them? would it be more information than the few lines I can find on the internet? Also, would you know if the Oakwood Cemetery and Hollywood Cemetery online sites are complete information, because he's not listed, if they are?
probably an unknown, you would think somewhere they'd have to keep some kind of basic information about these unknowns they buried. thank you, again, for helping me. god bless.
