I'm trying to help a friend with research on his Great Grandfather's service and finding little about Local Defense units. My friend has a paper that relates that his Great Grandfather, Thomas P. Pyles served as a Private in Captain Henry Allen's Company. Other than the fact that the Company served as guards at Salisbury Prison and was present at Fort Fisher I have found little. Can anyone help?
Where was the Company raised? Is there a roster of the Company available? Who was Captain Allen and where is her buried? Etc.
Any information at all will be much appreciated!
