He and widow drew pension in Halifax Co.,Va. postwar. Both only said Co.A,13th N.C.. He said he surrendered at Appomattox.
War Dept. in Washington said he was Pvt. in 13th N.C. and transferred/promoted to Co.H,56th N.C. reaching rank of Capt.,paroled fron Johnson's Island on 6/18/1865. Did husband and wife have lapse of memory or is War Dept. wrong? Thanks in advance.
