No response, so I had to find a way to locate the info. I put 150 miles round trip on my car, went to a big city library that had the referenced work. Problem was, when I got into the stacks I found they did not have several volumes, including volume 14, which had info on the 68th Infantry, as well as other units. Golly, guys, the set is only about 900 dyankee dollars, not sure why all of you don't have the work.

I did find another work, dated 1901, "Histories of the Several Regiments and Battalions from NC in the Great War 1861-'65". It lists a John T. Mebane of Betis County as a captain of the 68th NC infantry, Company F. It also list a John t. Mebane in Hoskin's Company Local Defense. I found a listing of Hardey Hoskins as the leader of that unit. Does any one have particulars about it?
