I was hoping someone might have some information on the Battle's Bridge area. I learned that my GGrandfather, Taylor Summers Moorer, was captured in April 1865 while blowing up the bridge at BB. Ironically, this is about 15 miles from where I currently live and, even more, I am a transplant from Tennessee and he was from Alabama! I was wondering if there is any info source about the final skirmishes along the Neuse and into Raleigh that might include references to this event. The Battles Bridge area has a water plant right where it appears the original bridge was located. I have been thinking about trying to locate it by river. Thanks and have a great day.
