A recent posting on the Forum of the website of the Company of Military Historians drew my attention to a 70-page document coverted by UNC optical reader to computer access, laying out a report of the Military Board on the organization, deployment and commanders of the second group of state regiments, providing detailed TO&E, weaponry, etc. Appended is the prescribed uniform, insignia of rank, etc. for the early war volunteers (branch colors black for infantry, yellow for cavalry, red for arty). It is well worth a quick "get-acquainted" look and perhaps selection as a Favorite for research and reference. See the link below.
