Re: 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,14th,30th NC IN at Cold Harbor

http://www.dhq.nu/search/links.asp?action=whatshot is one of my favorite free links to research the civil war. Also, soldiers and sailors system, which will probably tell you all the history of his division ie battles fought, etc. Unfortunately, I am an amateur at this, but if you notice at the top of this site we're on, now, is an ad for researching your confederate ancestor. I have purchased my own ancestor's record from this site, for around $25. In a little over a week, I received some valuable information on my long lost John W. Birch with NC 5th Inf including a hospital stay and physical description. With your ancestor living until 1900, there is a possibility he received some sort of pension. If he did, then, it could be a major source of more information on him and his immediate family for you. Pension records, from what I understand, are a gold mine of information. Good luck to you. God bless our brave champions of the South.
