Hello, Tom (and to all 55th NC Researchers)

I am very interested in learning as much as I can concerning the battles in the 55th NC Infantry were involved. I have three members of my family who served in Co. D; all were at Gettysburg. They were:
1) My GGGreat Grandfather:
Adolphus D Runyan Residence: Cleveland County, North Carolina Occupation: Mechanic
Service Record:
Enlisted as a Private on 26 March 1862 at the age of 32
Enlisted in Company D, 55th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 30 May 1862.
Absent on 15 June 1862 (Estimated day)
Hospitalized on 19 December 1864 at Richmond, VA
Furloughed on 28 January 1865
Adolphus D. served with the Confederates in the Civil War in Co. D, 55th Regiment, NC Infantry Troops "The Cleveland Farmers", along with Jacob Runyan (his nephew) and James M. Runyan (his uncle).
2) My GGGGreat Uncle:
James M Runyan Residence: Cleveland County, North Carolina Occupation: Farmer
Service Record:
Enlisted as a Corporal on 06 May 1862 at the age of 25
Enlisted in Company D, 55th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 30 May 1862.
POW on 01 July 1863 at Gettysburg, PA
Wounded on 01 July 1863 at Gettysburg, PA
Died of wounds Company D, 55th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 01 July 1863 in Gettysburg, PA
3) My 1st Cousin 3 times removed:

Enlisted in Company D, 55th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 30 May 1862.

Furloughed on 14 March 1863
Hospitalized on 10 April 1864 at Richmond, VA
Transferred on 30 April 1864 at Farmville, VA
Transferred on 20 May 1864 at Hospl., Richmond, VA
Furloughed on 30 June 1864
Surrendered Company D, 55th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 09 April 1865 in Appomattox Court House, VA

I've been trying to hunt down any & all accounts for this unit/Co., so I was very interested in your response. I have the service records & info from the NC Unit history. I am always interested in hearing from others researching this group.
