Also interesting, one of his wife's sister married an officer in the 3rd RA Artillery. Mary was married to Thomas M. Saunders, Captain, United States Army, who died of disease on 20 January 1864. I have been unable to identify the battery to which he was assigned and where they were when he died.

An other sister, Susan was married to George L. Bomberger, Surgeon, United States Army, Civil War. He served as a Contract Surgeon soon after graduating from medical school, in March 1865. Buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
