Six West brothers in 20th North Carolina Infantry

Lloyd West, Sr. and Edney (Gainey) West sent six sons to the Confederate army, all of whom served in Company H, 20th North Carolina:

-Handy Hardy (born 1830), 1st Lieutenant, killed 17 Sep 1862
-Noel (born 1832)
-Gainey (born 1836), 4th Sergeant, discharged September 1862
-John A. (born 1838), served at Cold Harbor (wounded), Malvern Hill, South Mountain, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg (wounded and captured), returned to duty and wounded on 25 Sep 1864
-Lloyd, Jr. (born 1840), Private, wounded at Cold Harbor, killed at Gettysburg 1 Jul 1863
-Pennington (born 1842), captured at Gettysburg
