looking for n. c . 63 home guards

Ferrell and Farrell being fairly common names in North Carolina, several John Ferrells and John Farrells can be found in Confederate units from that state. Among them are John P. Farrell, Co. "G", 5th North Carolina Cavalry, and a J. P. Ferrell, Co. "H", 31st North Carolina.

As for the 63rd Battalion, North Carolina Home Guards, the NPS index lists four names. These include a colonel, a lieutenant, a private and another man of unspecified rank. None of them are named Farrell or Ferrell. My knowledge of Confederate military commands doesn't include this unit.
