Try James E. Luther, Co. F, 37th North Carolina Troops. It appears in most of the records he is listed simply as "J. E. Luther." Maybe the clerk believed it was James and not Jesse. As an aside, I had the privilege of speaking at the dedication of a military marker for Luther several years ago.
