Lenoir writes: "As our brigade went into action at Cedar Run, we met a portion of Talliaferro's (Stonewall) brigade, who had been outflanked, and were falling back in great disorder. As we were pressing forward with energy and tolerable good order they men us and broke through our ranks as best they could... A large number of them formed for a while in our ranks, filling up the gaps which their irruption had made." (page 84)
