Re: Size of supply wagon
In Response To: Size of supply wagon ()

Hello Allan, David Land of Wilkes County, NC was my 2 x great-grandfather. He was a late-war conscript, assigned to Company I 13th NC Infantry. He was captured on 4/2/ 1865 and held until June 1865 at Hart's Island, NY. His oldest child was my great-grandfather, James Linville Land. James came to upper East Tennessee about 1870. I've lived here all my life. David outlived his 1st wife, Rebecca Knight and married again in 1877 to Sarah Kerley. To my knowledge, neither was Black. My great-grandfather was a very tall man. I've been told David's second son, Elijah Jason Land was over 7 feet tall. So the story about David's height could very well be correct. I'd really like to hear more from you, either here or through e-mail.

Glenn Land
