Smith was a captain and Company a, 20th North Carolina according to the January 1865 muster roll for the regiments

He is not on the 1870 census. I think there’s a good chance that he was killed either at hatchers run in February 1865, or at Fort Stedman March 1865 or somewhere between April 2 and ninth 1865.

Can anyone help me find out what happened to the guy
