My GGGF was a member of the 64th; he was at Camp Douglas for 22 months. I have gathered quite a bit of information; including what I believe is evidence that Allen and Lawrence may NOT have been responsibile for the killing at Shelton Laurel. I actually reviewed the telegram to the NC governor (at state archive) which seems to indciate that a TN Calavry Captain took official credit for it.
