Info on Jesse Melvin Marlowe from Guide, NC

I recently discovered that my GGGGF, Jesse Melvin Marlowe, served in the Civil War. The only info I have been able to find is from an old newspaper clipping the family has kept. It says "Mr. Marlowe fought in the fall of Fort Fisher, where he was buried for 2 hours in the debris (Fort Fisher is near Southport). He also fought in Wilmington, NC.

The family bible says he returned to Guide, NC after the war and died in Old Dock, NC on 1/20/1933.

I spend most of my time on the Alabama page searching the Bell side of the family. I would be most grateful for any info anyone might have.

Best Regards,

Michael Bell
