The NPS system is strictly an index of service files. It never includes on-line enlistment information.

If this man applied for a pension form the state of North Carolina, it probably would have been as a Confederate veteran. Most states (perhaps) would not accept pension applications for men who had only served in the militia. Confederate veterans or their unremarried widows could apply if they were unable to support themselves, not necessarily because of an injury.

There may not be an enlistment date or discharge in the files of this battalion. Records of militiamen usually appear in the NPS system only because they received paroles when the war ended. Paroles allowed these men to go home without fear of arrest or reprisal even though they had been in rebellion against the Federal government.

All I would expect here would be name, rank, unit, date and place of parole, and possibily residence.
