Re: NC Casualties at Bristoe Station, Virginia

Manassas,

You probably already know this, but I'm posting for the benefit of our Carolina friends that haven't been able to visit Bristoe Station.

The reenactment event October 14 was small but large enough to give historical preservationists credibility with the County Planning Commission. So far 130 acres have been saved including the area where most of the Confederate casualties occurred. We are hoping to acquire more land before it is developed.

The medical tent was heavily emphasized, and the ordeal of the wounded, mostly Confederates, was horrifying. A reenactor from the 27th North Carolina showed me where the regiment took 200 casualties in 30 minutes. So far the graves of the North Carolina troops have not been found. Hopefully, with better technology and research they will eventually be located.
