I do not have an answer for you but can tell you that Glenn Dedmondt's book "Flags of Civil War North Carolina" makes no mention of honors on the reverse of this flag. It seems to me there should be honors as the similar flag of the 37th N.C. has several and the surviving remnant of the 7th N.C. also has one. May I suggest you post your query on the Civil War Flags Message Board. There are experts over there that will almost certainly have the answer you are seeking. I too am very interested in the answer. I would also like to know the same thing for all the flags of Lane's Brigade ie 7th, 18th, 28th 33rd and 37th North carolina.
