When I get home, I can take a picture of the one at my house. Family legend has it it was planted in the 1830s or so. It is about 6'in diameter a foot off the ground! They saw Whisteria will kill trees, but this one has at least 2 vines on it that are 9-12" in diameter. I plan to cut them this winter though, as it is taking over the place.
Have some pictures of William Rufus Jacobs (Co A, 11th/17th Ark Mtd Inf, his grand father got the place as a land grant for Rev. service)there in the early teens and 20s and the tree is huge back then.
I think Jamie can vouch for it's size.

Looks like a nice place. Strangest tree I've seen out of place was at the staff house we had in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. There was 2 Southern Pine trees growing in the yard!
