It is unimportant what day we celebrate as Thanksgiving. The crime here is the revisionist history that write history in less than a factual manner. What you leave out of history is just as much a crime as the falsehoods you make up.

The fact is that Lincoln did NOT establish the first "National Day of Thanksgiving" as is so commonly stated. Several other Presidents before Lincoln had made Thanksgiving proclaimations. And President Davis had made one two years prior to Lincoln even thinking about it during the War for Southern Independance. I don't guess Lincoln had much to be thankful for in 1861 or 1862, since he didn't make any such proclaimation?

All Lincoln did was establish the Holiday on the last Thursday of November, rather than the 1st when the people had been most commonly observed it. And even then, according to your own references that you cited, he did this in a display of his superior supreme authority, over one of his own State Governors as to who could declare what day was going to be Thanksgiving?
