All of this Lincoln, Scott, Washburne, the Presidential race of 1852, Anderson, both of the Doubleday's, seem to provide a lot of fodder for the Conspiracy theroist.
It would certainly seem that Anderson's occupation of Fort Sumter was far from the simple minded military manuver that contemporiary history would lead us to believe. There does seem to be a lot of coincidental collaboration that was going on between all of these parties.
I realize that the United States Army itself was a small clic. But it seems that these people were comrades for a common purpose.
