I love Wilde. Since I have been on this board though and have been accused of not using reference and wandering from the subject of the Civil War, I fear to speak much on Mr. Wilde as I may be reprimanded by your fellow Dixieites. Let me bring it on subject in this fashion...William Henry Seward had a humor much like Wilde's. After the Hampton Roads meeting he sent champagne to the Confederate envoys. The emissaries spotted Seward with a boatswain's trumpet calling out "Keep the champagne but return the Negro."
OH my. Let me reference that for my critics.
