Actually, what Sorrel wrote in his memoir was:

"Latrobe recently heard from him in Baltimore, in want, and asking some small assistance."

Latrobe was also a member of Longstreet's staff and would have known Harrison. He didn't mention anything about Harrison being on stage. Shaara just misstated what he thought read - an honest mistake.
