And my gg-uncle was also captured at Gettysburg. He was a captain and would have probably been sent to Johnson's Island, but he had disguised himself as a private. He escaped from Ft. Delaware between July 7th and 12th 1863......returned to the 1st Texas Infantry, Hood's Texas Brigade.

Have you contacted the Fort Delaware Society? They found some information on my ancestor and might possibly have something useful for you. At the very least, they would like to have your gg-granfather's service record for their archives.
