You're right. Information flows no matter how it starts. I have had some contact a few years ago and got what info they had at the Society. Seems he was in the hospital when the war ended and it was June before he was released. The records didn't say what was wrong, just the area he was in is the medical code so it is assumed that he was in the hospital. Alan got me his CSR and I have his pension record. He's the one I went into the UDC with. He's buried less than a mile from my house. 3 of my GGGrands who were CSA vets are buried almost next to each other. I place small battle flags there a couple of times a year. So far, only hurricanes seem to have bothered them.
I do know the family stories that I've heard tell of him having a life long hatred of "Yank's". He had heart problems so it was probably circulation pain but when he died he was yelling about his feet hurting. He said over and over "The Yank's have got my toes!" Wish we knew for sure what he may have been thinking about.
