In fact, the government of the United States and its subsequent Consitution and laws are all legitimate because the Kingdom of Great Britain has formally recognized our government and established diplomatic relations. They have, on countless occasions over the past 200 years, in both word and deed, declared that the former American colonies are not a part of the British Empire and are, in fact, a sovereign nation.
