You brought this up not me...

Then why recognize them as American soldiers and sailors if they didn't fight for a legitimate government? Why treat them as prisoners of war? Why give them a parole? Why allow monuments to them on federal land? Why allow their generals commands after the war? Why name federal ships and installations after their victories and heros?
Oh I forgot their not Americans.
