The relationship between master and slave is one that could be discussed until the ending of time. When my 3x grandfather was killed, his slave was also killed with him. I don't know that he would have voluntarily given up his life for Mr. James B. Carmack or not, he might very well have. For that matter, I am sure Mr, Carmack had no idea he would die that day either.
