Lincoln agreed, then within two weeks Gen. Benjamin Butler entered Baltimore at night, arrested all the Police officers, and Secession Legislators. Imprisoning them without charges. The Union troops did a house by house search and conficated every firearm in Baltimore, under the auspices of Martial Law. Some of the Legislators spent three years in Prison without ever being charged of any crime.
