Re: The Rights of Louisianians
In Response To: The Rights of Louisianians ()

Great Scout,

Will we of the North be expecting an invasion by French forces. Should I hide in my bomb-shelter? They may be busy putting down their own Islamic problem. While Southerners hated the heavy hand of Butler, even one of the local newspapers had this to say. "Before the war, New Orleans had been ruled by plug-ugly street gangs-the most godless, brutal, ignorant and ruthless ruffanism the world has ever heard of." After three months of martial law, even the pro-Confederate Picayune had to say that the city "city had never been so free of burglars and cutthroats." Looks like Butler dealt with lawlessness better than your frenchie friends can, Mr. Upton.
