Ms. Evelyn, I quoted from, Quotations from Gerald M. Capers...Occupied City; New Orleans under the Federals 1862-1865, (Lexington Kentucky, 1965). I am sure that extracts from the Newspaper itself would have some mention somewhere about the Beast. May I ask, what is your interest on a particular day or days? Is this a source of your research? Do you posses articles from the Picayune?
