It's amazing how they can keep anything straight considering the amount of material at the Archives. It would be easy to conveniently 'lose' something in a file and have it reappear many years later when someone got around to looking into the file. Not really surprising though. My Uncle's military records were lost, just up in a puff of air, after he'd retired from Special Forces. The CIA did have something to do with it. They came and got him, bullied him into participating in the Bay of Pigs and they denied he was 'one of ours' when he was wounded and spent a year in a Cuban hospital paralyzed. They did eventually get him back to the states but denied him any benefits. Had it not been for my Aunt being a retired Major, he'd have been a pauper. She was able to list him as a dependant for medical care. Needless to say, he had a special hatred for the Kennedy brothers and most all Democrats on principle.
