Yes I am aware of this. I have gotten much information from the older generations of my family. When I was a lad my grandfather, who was born in the 1880's, was full of stories from old Civil War vets he knew as a boy. This included his uncles. Grandpa's dad was 10 years old during the war. His Grandpa, however, was mortally wounded in action on October 1, 1864 in a delaying action at Laurel Gap, Va. to allow Brig. Gen. A.E. Jackson to set up a defense of the saltworks at Saltville, Virginia. Grandpa said that his grandfather possessed some native blood but I have not discovered any documentation on this.
