Re: Fort Sumter
In Response To: Re: Fort Sumter ()

Chief, I was sitting at my desk holding my copy of the Constitution open to Article I, Section 8, when I opened the site you posted. It sure saved me a lot of expostulating! Correlary factoid: While I was sttationed at Jacksonville NAS in early 1960, two guys from the photo lab took their lunch hour to rob a bank in town. When they came back to work, they hid the bank loot in the dumpster out back. That afternoon, they apparently not being very good bank robbers, the Naval Investigative Service (See NCIS on Tuesday nights) came looking for them. The NIS agents found the money, and took our erstwhile Dillengers into Jax and turned them over to the Duval County Sherrif. Note that no civilian police came onto the base. I suppose that NAS Jax had the same exemption to allow such visitation, but it didn't happen in this case. I've sometimes wondered why. Stan
