Len...I would bet that you did not have to look up the rifleman's creed in a handbook.

At one time I was on the Staff of the Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet. There was a Marine Colonel who was assigned to the Planning Division section of the staff.

That is not the story. His aide was a Master Sargent with some 20 years service in 1945. The Colonel and the Master Sargent had the carbine assigned to them stowed inside their offices and cleaned them weekly. I'm sure the inside of the rifles shone as much as the stocks.

I thought that was unusual in that no other arms were permitted inside the office complex other than those carried by the Marine guard.

This posting is so off-topic and so non-War Between the States and probably our personal info.chain should stop.

I miss the good old days...I have lots of friends that I have not been in contact for the last sixty years.
