Sorry Stan; Didn't mean to sound like I was riled.

I knew when I listed Chambersburg, Pa. that someone was going to bring up the burning of Chambersburg in 1864. I am surprised someone hasn't brought up Quantrill and Kansas.

But my point was that the Confederates had many oppertunities to follow the federal patterns of destruction of private property during the War. And while the Confederates were not total angels, they were at least a bit more constrained by their commander and those commanders ethics in this than was their federal counterparts.

In any case I just wanted to make sure that less informed readers understood the circumstances and the southern perspective of Chambersburg being burned.
