It's OK, Doyle. I just wanted you to be sure I did not mean to. Your points about the actions of the two sides are well taken. I live at the northern end of Fireball Sherman's swath through Georgia, just south of Kennesaw Mountain. He burned Marietta and Smyrna, where I was born and live. In the 1880s Henry Grady introduced Sherman as "being a little careless with matches". To remind everyone of how the participants got over their hatred and ill feelings, Joe Johnston caught pneumonia keeping his hat off at Sherman's funeral. When asked why he did not put his hat on, he said, "If matters were reversed, he would do the same for me." He died about ten days later. Stan
