We used to make cannons out of one inch steel pipe, threaded on one end, and capped with a screw on cap, bored with a hole for the fuse of a two inch firecracker. You could shoot steel ball bearings and glass marbles through both sides of a galvanized trash can! The marbles would shatter on the first impact, on the front edge, but go right on through the can.
