On November 17, 1861, the 9th Texas was enroute to the Battle of Round Mountain I.T., Col. McIntosh had split his command as the Unionist were burning the prairie behind them and grass was hard to find. In the Griscom Diary, Griscom stated that they went to bed but were ordered up to go assist McIntosh who was being overrun.

Griscom was camped on Brown's Creek near Slick. Ok. That could have been South or East. There's another Creek about 6/8/10/ miles East . Slick is about 6 miles from the Okmulgee/Creek County Line. The other possible Creek is in Okmulgee County Further East.

I have a friend who showed me a picture years ago asking if I knew where the place was. I didn't. But it was a site of a Civil War batle in Okmulgee/our County.

Griscom's night time skirmish on Nov. 17, 1861 is close to being that battle site. Now I need to prove it.

The description on the picture was West of Beggs, Ok. the Creek/Okmulgee County Line is West of Beggs, as is Slick Ok., and Brown's Creek. I believe my friend that 1+1 will equal 2 here once we locate it.
