Chase, the Netherlands was one of the few Republics in the world at the time of the founding of New Netherlands. Do you think it was that ethos, still in New York that allowed a man with the talent of an Alexander Hamilton to rise as he did? I just don't think a man of his birth could have risen like that in the caste bound areas of the South or New England. Your thoughts?
