I am reading Fighting with Ross's Cavalry, THe Diary of Lt. George L. Griscom 9th Texas Cavalry. It's this book that I am trying to locate a battlesite just prior to Round Mountain Creek. While read I guess footnotes, I learned that during the battle of Round Mountain Creek several Texans were captured and during the retreat of the Unionist Creeks, were tortured to death and scalped. It seems that while we talk about the War we seem to foget that the Indians were still in the hostile mode and not civilized.
