Re: Texas Confederate opposed to slavery?

The sad part about it is I really wonder and worry about how much of the "rebel" sprite is still left in us. We seem to be far more comfortable with our government dictating our daily lives, for one reason or the other, than our forefathers would have ever excepted.

It is a matter of historical probablity that at some point in our future such governmental interference or dictates will cross the lines of tolerence of some segment of the populace, and a restructioning (Civil War?) will happen again as it always has throughout history.

It is simply that you can't please all the people all the time. If you please one group you are will usually always displease someone else. That is the reason that our forefathers left such decisions to the States to make on an individual basis.

And by the way it doesn't take a whole bunch of nuts to cause problems. Just look at the our own Abolishionist, the Irish Republican Army in England and Al-Queda and any number of simular organizations for examples.
