Re: Regional Devolution - A means to a Southern En

They are certainly doing a good job of it these days. I am ashamed, as a veteran, of what message they are sending the troops fighting for their butts. The troops want to finish the job before they come home, but the idiots in D.C. can't seem to comprehend that. All they care about is getting re-elected, and that includes both sides. Laying down and playing dead rather than fight for what they sent them to do destroys morale and determination. That so many Republicasns would join in signing the "non binding" resolution reather than fight it and get creamed in the press is an abomination. Ok, Jim, I'll get back to the WTBS: I think there was a lot of similar thinking in those days, with Copperheads on one side and whomever on the other. There is a book by a Richmond clerk named Jones, who wrote of profiteering and scamming the government in procurement. Goods were held back to raise the prices. The term "Shoddy" came from a type of pressed cloth which was cheap and did not last beyond a few washings. Uniforms were made of this trash and sent to the troops in the field. Shoes were put together so poorly they fell apart on the march. Slightly different tack, but still failures to support the troops. Stan
