Re: Let's tell the whole story
In Response To: Let's tell the whole story ()

MArtin: I am very glad that I mentioned Sally Hemings in jest, because it resulted in one of the most cogent rebuttals of the charge against Thomas Jefferson I have ever seen. I believe there is more than political correctness in the willingness of some people to bring him down. The howling band of "journalists" cannot stand to face his intellect. He well knew the coming results of slavery, and the judgement our country would face when it passed. I am reminded of a quote by John Kennedy when dining at the White House with prominent scientists and philosophers. He said, "This table has never known such a gathering of brilliance and wisdom, except perhaps when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

Thank you for the post. Stan
