Remember the Ludlow Massacre in Colorado about that time? The mine owners made regular use of the NG and the Pinkertons. I recently saw a picture of a young lady proudly holding her Gran' Pa's Winchester '94, which he had used in defending the mainers' families when they were attacked in their camp, by Pinkertons who had rigged up a "tank" by putting armor plate on the car they used for the attack, with a machine gun. Some miners' wives and children hid in holes dug in their tents for protection from gunfire, only to be burned to death. Not good times. Stan
