Sorry to butt in on your questions to Stephen, Ann. Frankly, I've never heard even the most staunch biblical literalists try to defend slavery today. Surely you aren't suggesting that because "creationists" of the 19th century often defended slavery via use of the Bible that "creationists" of the 21st century must hold the same view on the subject and for the same reasons?

That would seem to me to be an invalid assumption. i.e. "Post hoc, ergo propter hoc"??
