Re: Christianity and white supremacy???

Annie, The debate over evolution continues to this day in the good ol USA. Teachers are damned if they try to teach it even as theory. They also cannot bring in the religion aspect to have a civil discussion for comparison. Religion reigns but any overt mention or show of it is supressed in schools and now even in public places. While most of us see this as a violation of the first written rights, some say it is causing some sort of mental anguish to those who are not Christians. Confusing to all, especially the poor student. White 'supremacy' isn't upheld as a real doctrine except by some radical groups. I believe the bone of contention today is more one of 'fairness' rather than superiority. 'Equality' is an over used word and sets a rather tense atmosphere. We've heard it enough.

In the 1800's, there may well have been more of a Biblical leaning on this. The picture gets murky because many written works may contain mention of Biblical passages but are gleaned by the author and not endorsed by a particular church or faith. Then again, there were some who surely were advocates of the Supremacy theory. Cutting through the retoric, it all boiled down to economics, no matter how things were worded.
