You clearly said and I quote your post ... "As a pacifist during the Civil War, she..." That definately has to be your interpretation for it certainly is not my interpretation of her.

As I said, she was an activist, a radical abolishionist whose lyrics to "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" are demeaning and spiteful. She was clearly in full support of the waging of War against the southern people if her own words in that song are to be believed. The waging of War for any purpose, even the freeing of slaves, is NOT a pacifist stance in my opinion. Her good work for the widows and orphans of the soldiers who were actively engaged in carring forth her agenda of the destruction of the southern people certainly does NOT qualify her as a Saint, nor a pacifist in my book.

We have had this discussion before on this board and you are free to glorify her if you wish, but I certainly will not. She certainly did help out any widows and orphans of southern soldiers that I am aware of. She could have cared less for them.
